Major advertisers using Spanish-language mobile ads to reach Hispanics

Major brands & advertisers like Budweiser, Chevrolet, Disney, Ford, Gatorade, McDonald’s, Nissan, Sprint, Heineken/Tecate, T-Mobile,etc. are including Spanish-language mobile advertising in their media mix to reach Hispanics.   HispanicWebMonitor™ data from Media Economics Group shows that  – through October – 573 companies and 1,264 brands/campaigns employed mobile ads on Hispanic-targeted mobile (WAP) websites.

The widespread adoption of mobile ads by major advertisers is not surprising since an avalanche of data underscores the high and rising adoption of mobile (smartphones AND tablets) among Hispanics.  A few recent “factoids”:

  • 69% of Hispanic mobile owners own a smartphone and 31% own a feature phone (Source: Nielsen http://t.co/XbLbPGwGir)

  • 68% of #Hispanic smartphone owners use their phone to go online (>63% all cell phone owners) (Source: Pew Hispanic http://bit.ly/1brgiJK )

  • 54% of Hispanic smartphone owners visit shopping sites from their mobile browsers during a typical month (Source: Experian, http://ow.ly/rnhSb)

  • 60% of Hispanics who use phone to go online are cell-mostly internet users, vs 27% of whites. (Source: Pew Hispanic http://bit.ly/1brgiJK )

  • Hispanic mobile owners as likely to have #iPhone (26%) or Android (27%) as all adults (Source: Pew Hispanic http://t.co/PSgR2QBS6s)

  • 34% of #Hispanics own a tablet, up from 23% a year ago (Source: Pew Hispanic http://t.co/sN9mAH5Cza)

  • 16% of Hispanic shoppers use their mobile device to make purchases compared to 12% of general market (Source:Shopper Culture http://t.co/t5ETfh5Q00)

Recent data from Experian also shows that Hispanics are receptive to mobile advertising: Hispanics are 2x as likely to be interested in mobile ads & 58% more likely to buy those products (http://ow.ly/rnhSb)
